RARE BREEDS MART
As some of you already know the Irish Native Rare Breed Society INRBS have been collaborating with Ballymahon Mart to bring a ‘Rare Breed’s Mart’ to life on Saturday, 1st November 2025.
This was organised by Ballymahon Mart, Co Longford and our very own Mr. Herbert Farrell of the INRBS. He has put in an inordinate amount of work into this to make this happen!
For the Rare Breeds Mart, Ballymahon Mart is providing a MartEye for sellers and buyers with an independent set up to handle ALL payments (and issues, if any), a collection point in the mart, trusted hauliers if required, an import/export hub with the Mart and a venue for both organic and non-organic animals.
For those members with animals to present for sale online via the MartEye there are certain requirements that need to be met as follows;
Online Sales:
1. Any animal for sale to be submitted by the individual Breed Societies in person or online.
2. A 30 second video of each animal, all around and underneath.
3. 5 to 7 photos of each animal.

5. Photo of the weight of the animal with a mart name on top – for the integrity of the information.
6. General information of animal, i.e. docility, ease of calving, quality of parentage, etc.
7. County and location within the county for trader information.
8.Bank details for Ballymahon Mart for all interested in trading. All payments must go through Ballymahon Mart’s account in the interest of all traders security.
Transportation:
i. If anyone requires a haulier Ballymahon Mart has as list of trusted hauliers for Traders for transportation.
ii. Collection and delivery of animals can be at the farmers’ yard or closest mart if they don’t want strangers arriving to their farms.

b) All animals will remain in the ring until sold or withdrawn. All animals online on Marteye will remain on a video loop until sold or withdrawn.
